Doka presented its digital services at the new digital construction trade fair
A new trade fair for digital construction – "digitalBAU" – opened its doors from 11-13 February 2020 in Cologne. The focus of this leading digital construction trade fair was on digital technologies for the planning, construction and operation of buildings. Doka was taking this opportunity to present selected digital services designed to enhance productivity on the construction site to a broader audience.
Staging connects: The umdasch world of experience at the EuroShop 2020
umdasch The Store Makers are presenting new perspectives for the retail sector of the future on a fair stand extending over 900 square metres at the EuroShop in Düsseldorf from 16–20 February 2020. In an integral tour of all sectors of retailing visitors can experience multimedia ideas, unusual materials and countless opportunities for profitable measures at the point of sale.
310 metres above Warsaw – Varso Tower
In the future office spaces of the Varso Tower, people will be able to work in the tallest building in Poland. Doka is supplying formwork solutions suited to the modern architecture of the new building in the heart of Warsaw. The construction scheme is part of the Varso Place mixed-use development which aims to revitalise the surrounding city district.
DokaCAD for Revit
Digitalisation and Construction 4.0 promise significant productivity gains for the construction industry and its complex planning processes and procedures. The use of building information modelling (BIM) in construction design is a key factor in these gains. BIM models are increasingly used as the basis for formwork planning. Doka is launching DokaCAD for Revit, its powerful software for automated formwork planning.
Virtual planning – faster implementation
The experts at Doka created a virtual model based on building information modelling (BIM) for the construction of a reservoir in Vienna’s 23rd district so that wall formwork and cycle times could be planned precisely. This reduced the on-site work and resources required by construction company HABAU. Each worker’s formwork productivity doubled, with one casting section completed every three days.

Kömürhan Bridge
Constructed over the Karakaya Dam Lake, the Kömürhan Bridge will soon forge part of the Malatya-Elazig State highway in Eastern Turkey. Measuring 600 metres in length, the bridge features a cable-stayed design with a single pylon, which stands at 165 m in height. This special type of bridge, which is the fourth single pylon cable-stayed bridge in the world, will also serve an important regional role as a logistics corridor, not only connecting Malatya and Elazığ, but also serving as a strategic crossing for the 16 provinces of Eastern Anatolia.
E4 Bypass Stockholm – Sweden’s biggest road and tunnel project
A 21 km motorway bypass is being constructed to relieve traffic in Stockholm: E4 Bypass Stockholm, or in Swedish “E4 Förbifart Stockholm”. The bypass, scheduled for completion by 2030 doesn’t just stand out as one of Sweden’s biggest infrastructure projects: its 18 kilometres of tunnel will make it the second-longest underground tunnel in city buildings. Doka is providing the formwork equipment for four project sections.

The large market potential offers many opportunities for a formwork supplier
The EAP region accounts for a large proportion of global construction output, measured by Total Construction Output (TCO), which is the sum of the residential construction, non-residential construction and civil engineering. The high TCO level is accompanied by high dynamics: Annual real growth rates of around 4.4% per annum are expected for the period 2019 to 2021 for the EAP region. For comparison: The World-TCO real growth rates are expected to rise by 3.3% per year in this period.
Within the EAP region, the Philippines is one of the fastest growing countries with annual growth expectations of the TCO of over 8% between 2019 and 2021.
3D: Use cases for formwork
3D technology has been used in the field of formwork for a long time. Initially, it was confined to the virtual world of computing, where it was used for three-dimensional formwork design. Nowadays, though, it is being used more and more on the construction site itself, sometimes in the form of formwork parts produced by 3D printers, sometimes even entire building elements manufactured additively. Doka and its parent company, the Umdasch Group, have embraced these new technologies.
New headquarters for VakifBank

With the new headquarters of VakifBank, Istanbul is now in the process of becoming a financial capital. Covering a total area of 690,000 m² with 257,464m² of usable area, the office construction will be one of the most spectacular buildings to be located in the Istanbul Finance Centre. The new standalone railway will deliver 31 metro stations and more than 66 kilometres of new metro rail, revolutionising the way Australia’s biggest city travels. On 29 September 2019 RUOTKER'S was opened under the title "house of whiskey, gin & rum" in Riegersburg. Over the course of the Styrian Autumn; which is famous for culinary events, the new second generation store of the Gölles family was furnished by umdasch The Store Makers. The store, full of classy spirits, shows full taste from body to texture. Following the realisation of areas for Zotter chocolates and Gölles Manufaktur, The Store Makers have demonstrated further competence in the design of gastronomic areas with Ruotkers House of Whiskey, Gin & Rum.
