Melodious première for DokaShape
The Sibelius Academy has created more space for students in the Finnish capital of Helsinki. An additional building at the Academy of Music will soon shine in renewed splendour after renovation. A special feature is the entrance to the cafeteria, formed in a dome shape made from architectural concrete. Skanska and the Doka Competence Centre Fair-Faced Concrete have succeeded in creating a shapely composition from exposed concrete using the new 3D moulding formwork DokaShape. DokaShape already met with great approval at the première.

Investments in safety soon deliver demonstrable benefit to every project. Greater cost-efficiency, a reduced risk of accidents and enhanced employee motivation are just some of the advantages of implementing a professional safety concept on the site. When it comes to safety, Doka takes a holistic, A-to-Z approach that runs all the way from product development to safety consulting, and to its extensive range of products and services.

166 m office tower being built as new HQ for banking group Intesa Sanpaolo SpA in Turin
World-famous Italian star architect Renzo Piano is the name behind another new urban landmark in Turin, this time a sophisticated highrise project in the city’s San Paolo district. The client is the banking group Intesa Sanpaolo SpA (BISP), whose around 100,000 staff and over 5000 branches make it one of the largest in the eurozone. The new building will fulfil very exacting structural and environmental standards. Rising to a height of 166 m, it will also take up a visually pre-eminent position in the Turin skyline. Especially with its automatic climbing equipment, Doka is helping this structure to be built economically and to high quality specifications.
Formwork engineers to focus energy
Demand for energy around the world is rising, a fact that requires energy to be supplied in an environmentally friendly, efficient and safe way. Construction lots for building different types of power stations ranging from water to gas- and coal-fired power all the way to wind energy systems are as diverse as the forms of energy generation. Each structure places specific and frequently complex demands on formwork technology. In response Doka provides custom as well as holistic solutions and underscores its versatility with its in-house Competence Centre Power Plants.

Powerful premiere for D35
Norway covers nearly its entire energy demand with hydro power. For this reason, investments into expansion continue, such as at the Otra River in the Aust-Agder province. The new “Sarvsfossen” dam for the Skarg power station will go operational there in April 2014. Doka's Dam formwork D35 is used for the first time during construction of the concrete arch dam. The success of this premiere is ensured by the standard system that includes pouring sections that are 5 m high as well as an integrated safety and logistics concept.

Contractors Bechtel have taken up the manifold challenges of this vast new facility located at over 4000 m above sea level, with Doka at their side as their partner for formwork technology.
Exquisitely ‘formed’ with a flexible formwork solution
The Bouregreg Bridge is definitely one of the most spectacular bridge projects at the present time. The 952 m long cable-stayed bridge near the Moroccan capital Rabat symbolises the modernisation of the country’s infrastructure. Architecturally, it stands out for its two pylons – one 197 m, the other 185 m tall. Their artistic shape also presents the Formwork Experts with some special challenges. The solution Doka developed for them is based on the Automatic climbing formwork SKE100 system.
