Powerful premiere for D35

Norway covers nearly its entire energy demand with hydro power. For this reason, investments into expansion continue, such as at the Otra River in the Aust-Agder province. The new “Sarvsfossen” dam for the Skarg power station will go operational there in April 2014. Doka's Dam formwork D35 is used for the first time during construction of the concrete arch dam. The success of this premiere is ensured by the standard system that includes pouring sections that are 5 m high as well as an integrated safety and logistics concept.

Las Bambas copper mine: Positive outlook for construction progress in the Andes

The site of the new Las Bambas copper mine is in one of the remotest regions of the Andes. The work on building the ore-extraction infrastructure is currently the biggest construction project in Peru, comprising several crushing plants, tunnels and a dam. Contractors Bechtel have taken up the manifold challenges of this vast new facility located at over 4000 m above sea level, with Doka at their side as their partner for formwork technology.

Exquisitely ‘formed’ with a flexible formwork solution

The Bouregreg Bridge is definitely one of the most spectacular bridge projects at the present time. The 952 m long cable-stayed bridge near the Moroccan capital Rabat symbolises the modernisation of the country’s infrastructure. Architecturally, it stands out for its two pylons – one 197 m, the other 185 m tall. Their artistic shape also presents the Formwork Experts with some special challenges. The solution Doka developed for them is based on the Automatic climbing formwork SKE100 system.

Sinntal Viaduct: Forming wagon TU lends elegance to cantilevered parapets

On the A7 near Bad Brückenau in Northern Bavaria, Germany, an aesthetically appealing bridge spans the valley of the River Sinn in a broad sweep. As part of the works on this new bridge, around 3000 linear metres of elegantly shaped cantilevered parapets had to be formed in fair-faced concrete quality, using longitudinal planed tongue-and-groove board formwork. 4.00 m long Forming wagons TU from Doka, coupled together to make 28.00 m long travelling units, helped work to progress both safely and swiftly, as they could be towed ahead rapidly in a single operation.
