Doka supplies super-stable formwork for the tallest cooling tower in Greece

Ptolemaida - On site at one of the biggest projects in Greece in recent years, construction of the lignite-fired power plant Ptolemais Block V needs cooling-tower formwork expertise from Doka, plus compliance with a very special structural requirement. This is the first time that Doka has used an earthquake-proof design to form the first rings of a cooling tower.

Competence at any height

Every highrise is unique – as is the associated formwork solution. Competence is crucial for developing a custom formwork solution. In the highrise sector Doka has more than 40 years' experience with self-climbing formwork. This year, the company will successfully carry out its 1,000th highrise project. Right now, one of the projects is the Central Park Tower in New York, the world's tallest residential building.

After only two and half years of construction, parts of Istanbul's new airport will open next year. For rapid progress on this build, the contractor is relying on the formwork solution from Doka. A total of 30,000 load-bearing tower frames will be used.

The world's tallest residential building, the Central Park Tower will top out at 472 metres. It is currently under construction in New York City. The method of construction is special and Doka's automatic climbing platforms are the ideal solution, both fast and safe. The building is due for completion in 2020.
