Doka formwork expertise at 182 metres above London

High-rise buildings are an icon of modern society. Not many high-rise projects are identical and the same can often be said for the concrete structure and the formwork solution as a result. Measuring in at 182 metres high, The Madison Tower located in London’s Docklands financial district, is currently setting its mark as one of the tallest buildings in the UK. Situated adjacent to Canary Wharf, the residential tower rapidly gained height with help from Doka solutions including SCP core climbing formwork, Framax Xlife wall formwork, Dokadek systemised handset slab panel formwork and Concremote concrete maturity measurement systems.

Building bridges with BIM

The A85 motorway is one of the main thoroughfares connecting the cities of Anger and Vierzon in France. Along the route a total of six viaducts are expanded to improve the flow of traffic. Doka made an important contribution to the infrastructure initiative by using BIM to deliver an efficient and easily adaptable formwork solution for widening the “Viaduc de la Roumer“ section.

Inverted construction of bridge piers

Germany’s largest lifting bridge: a challenge in terms of formwork technology as well as structurally

The Hamburg Port Authority (HAP), the agency responsible for the infrastructure of the Port of Hamburg, wants to improve the flow of traffic across the Süderelbe River by building the New Kattwyk Railway Bridge. For the construction of the bridge piers, Max Bögl and Doka are relying on an unconventional formwork design: Once the casting section is cured, it’s not the formwork that is moved but the actual piece of the pier that was poured. This process requires construction of the bridge pier not from the bottom up but more or less from the top down.

Doka creates added value with BIM

Digital technologies and systems are influencing the construction sector more than ever before. Digitisation has an enormous scope and potential to boost efficiency and cost-effectiveness across the entire construction process. In this context, Building Information Modelling (BIM) is definitely one of the main factors influencing the construction industry. Doka sees this innovative approach as a key method for optimising construction processes, boosting productivity on site and designing the ideal solutions. Doka used BIM to map the formwork solutions for the SOFiSTiK office building project in Germany.
